I grew up surrounded by men and women who used their hands to grow food, build homes, and the furniture that went in them. They would not have called themselves artist or designers, but they lived with intention, purpose, and took pride in a job well done. I love the smell of fresh cut wood, and the handshake of a callused hand that is confident in the workmanship they provide. Our family jokes that the Underhills have sawdust in their veins. Generations have blessed me with their willingness to share and teach these revered skills.
I learned the trade of fine carpentry from my Grandfather. Along the way other fine craftsman taught me about Cabinetry, functionality and the small details that set you apart if you are diligent.
About 25 years ago i began designing Kitchens for clients. My love of cooking and appreciation for functional, beautiful spaces launched me into a career as a Kitchen and Bath Designer. I would guess over a thousand kitchens later, I'm still at it.
